Thought- “Now is the training time for the reigning time.” – Mark Hitchcock from the book “ The End “
Scripture- Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.” Matthew 24:30
Insight: If you want to be good at almost anything, then you need to train yourself for it. Whether the task at hand requires physical, mental or emotional strength, training is the only true way to prepare yourself for what you might encounter. Well, this is most certainly true in the Bible as well. We as Christians are to train ourselves for the coming King, who will once again return to earth, but this time to reign supreme over all things during His Millennial Kingdom. The present church age, which began at Pentecost over 2,000 years ago will climatically end with the coming of the rapture. Will you be ready when He comes like a “thief in the night,” as 1 Thessalonians 5:2 says?
The world will be changed in a more dramatic way than has ever been witnessed before, as Millions of Christians depart the earth in an instantaneous reunion with their Savior Jesus in the air, as 1 Thessalonians 4:17 proclaims. This will precipitate the beginning of the 7-year tribulation on earth and trust me you don’t want to be on earth during this time frame according to the Bible. It will literally be hell on earth, as the Holy Spirit, referred to in 2 Thessalonians 2:7 as the Great Restrainer, is removed from the earth allowing the forces of evil to reign for a short period of time. All of this is the precursor to Christ coming back to establish His earthly Kingdom for His 1,000-year reign. Guess who will reign with him? That’s right, you and I, and every other believer throughout history. We will be literally put in charge of certain tasks on earth based on the faithfulness and obedience we displayed when we lived on earth. So how do we begin training for this? By praying more, reading scripture more and then putting into action what we have learned. Just like a golfer who practices for hours on a range preparing to hone his or her game for the big tournament, so we must prepare by beginning to take our given skills and assignments on earth to those whom God puts in our path. No matter the occupation, vocation or ministry, we must do it all well as if serving the Lord (Ephesians 6:7) so he knows He can count on us when He needs us most. Now it is training time for His reigning time. Will we be ready? At that given moment, nothing else will matter and there will be no mulligans like many hackers use in golf. It is showtime and Jesus is in charge of the whole production!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us train hard for your coming return. It is truly training time for your reigning time. Amen!
